Admissions Policy

Oakfield Preparatory School

Oakfield Preparatory School is a non-selective mixed preparatory school for children aged 2 to 11 years old. We specialise in preparing children for entrance exams to Private Senior Schools at 11+.

Prospectus

In a bid to help the environment, Oakfield Prep School no longer sends out prospectus materials.  However we hope you will find all the details you require within the pages of our website.

Nursery Admissions

Children are admitted to the nursery in the September after they turn 2 and Lower Foundation the September after they turn 3.

The nursery is available on a session basis and parents can choose as many sessions as they wish.

The morning session runs from 9am to midday.

Lunch is midday to 12.30pm.

The afternoon session runs from 12.30 to 3.30pm.

Lower Foundation Admissions

Is also available on a session basis but parents are asked to send their children for full days as opposed to half days where possible as we do not want children to miss out on whole-day activities.

Upper Foundation Admissions

Children are admitted into Upper Foundation in the September after their fourth birthday as full-time pupils. Around 80 places are available each year for four Reception classes. Assessment takes place prior to entry against the following criteria:

Category 1: Children with a sibling at Oakfield

Category 2: Children will be offered places according to the date of their application

Families will be given two weeks to accept the offer and return the Acceptance Agreement together with the Deposit Fee. If places are not accepted, we will move down the list of registrations.

Year 1-6 Admissions

Places may be available in other year groups and parents are advised to contact the school to ascertain the situation.

Places are offered in Year 1 on a date of registration basis, using the same priorities as above.

Places are offered in Years 2 to 6 on a date of registration basis, using the same priorities as above. The children are invited to spend the day with a class within their current year group. During the day they are interviewed by the Deputy Principal and asked to sit a short English and Maths paper.
