How to Apply

We welcome parents to visit Oakfield for one of our regular
Working Mornings (usually the last Thursday in each month) where
you can meet the Principal and teaching staff and also see some of
the children at work and play. Alternatively, if these
dates are not convenient, you may arrange an individual tour during
the school day. Please contact our Registrar for
appointments.
Entry to the school is at 2+ to the Nursery,
3+ and 4+ to the Foundation Years and 5+ to Year 1. Places
generally become available between ages 6 – 11 years as families
move in and out of the area.
After your initial visit, application forms
need to be completed and returned with a £75 application fee.
Children are then invited back to the school for an informal
assessment. This process ensures that we are able to meet
your child’s needs and gives the chance for your child to get to
know some of their peer group and make their first friends at
Oakfield.
- 2 year olds are invited to a half-hour
“parent/toddler” session, in small groups, which is designed to be
fun for the children. During this time we will informally observe
them to ensure that they will be ready to settle happily in our
Nursery by September. These sessions usually take place in
February of the year that they wish to start.
- We usually observe applicants aged 3+ in
January of the year that they wish to start and applicants aged
4+ the previous November.
- Children for the remaining age groups will be
invited to spend a day in school on application.
After the observation we will let you know the
outcome as soon as possible. If a place is formally offered,
it is then guaranteed within 21 days of the offer letter by receipt
of a deposit which is currently £1,275.00. This is
non-refundable if the child does not start at the school but is
offset against the pupil’s fees for their last term at
Oakfield. If we have more successful applicants
than places for any age group then a Waiting List system will
operate.
School fees are payable on the first day of
each term by cheque or cash. Bank Transfer or Debit Card
payment facilities are also available.
Monthly Direct Debit payments may be made via
Holmwood’s Termtime Collections. Applicants for this scheme
are eligible after the first term at the school. A form
for this will be included in our Welcome Pack that will be given to
your child if a place at Oakfield is accepted.
The School also accepts ACCOR/Busy Bees/etc
Vouchers and Nursery Education Grant payment from the Local
Authority.
