Beyond Oakfield

We are always delighted when Oakfield Prep can make a positive difference and we are keen to show you just some of the amazing things our wonderful pupils and staff are doing beyond the schoolgates!

Thinking with your Head

Our Head Mrs Thompson has written a fantastic editorial about how lockdown has brought experiential learning and character development to the fore in the latest edition of Absolutely Education: Prep and Pre-Prep.

Link to the full issue is here - look out for her piece on p.45-46!

And if you need just a few illustrations of how Oakfield pupils developed their character and grit over lockdown then check out these pupils and their amazing efforts below!

What a way to row!

William Johnson in Year 6 rowed a distance equivalent of London to Oxford (185km!) to raise money for the NHS Charities Together appeal. He smashed his £500 target to raise a total of £860.

Well done William!

Cycle sensation!

Taylor's amazing cycle mission to raise £1,000 for the  Karuna Trust by cycling 260km in one month was  incredible. He achieved his target and raised much-  needed funds for emergency deliveries to those  disadvantaged communities in India suffering from the  coronavirus pandemic.

Sign of the Times

Ray in Year 4, along with her mum and sister, created this outstanding banner to support NHS workers in April. She taught herself how to use the sewing machine to make the incredible banner!

“It took quite a long time to make and was nice to see it go on tour! It appeared on the Guardian online, the BigConcert and ITV news!”

   Goodbye to a legend

We were delighted to have the local SE magazine feature our interview with Jill Davey upon the eve of her retirement having served Oakfield and the families of Dulwich for 42 wonderful years!

You can read the interview with Jill where she reminisces about her time at the school and how Oakfield and teaching has changed over the last four decades by clicking here

Keeping bodies and minds healthy!

This Spring Jacob and Freddie Wagner wanted to keep fit and   raise money for the World Health Organisation's COVID-19   Solidarity Response Fund and the mental health charity       MIND in the process. They ran a combined 100km over 30 days and beat their fundraising target by 250%. What a result!
