Oakfield Preparatory School

Sport

We enable pupils to excel at the highest levels through elite sports squads led by our Sports Development Coach.

It is vital that children compete at whatever ability and learn about success, failure, teamwork and sportsmanship.

Children in Years 3 - 6 are chosen to join the elite football, gymnastics, swimming and netball squads each year. Training takes place after school each week.

The Sports Department prides itself on engaging and encouraging others to participate and develop core gross motor skills. We aim to inspire, enthuse and involve our children in a wide-ranging programme.

From Year 2, children have many opportunities to represent the school in various sporting teams, thus instilling respect, cooperation and an understanding of the importance of teamwork, as well as a sense of healthy competition.

  • The Fixture List is extensive, which means that every pupil will be asked to represent the school on a number of occasions, at least once a term.
  • The breadth of opportunity allows team sports and individual sports to flourish at Oakfield and enables pupils to discover hidden skills, talents and passions. For example swimming and gymnastics are strong and Oakfield won team bronze medal at the ISA National Gymnastics Championships.
