Curriculum

Oakfield is a hive of learning activity. We aim to ensure that every minute counts for each child, so that they have the opportunity to be the BEST that they can be.

All children have a Form Tutor who works to nurture a child’s identity and security as soon as they begin their learning journey at Oakfield. It is the Form Tutor who is primarily responsible for the pastoral wellbeing of our children, and it is their happy task to ensure that each child has a secure base from which to grow and develop.

As the child progresses through the school, the number of specialist teachers increase, and so by the time they reach Year 6, almost all subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, MFL, Music, Drama, Art and PE are taught by specialist teachers. Furthermore, we offer specialist rooms and equipment in Science, ICT, Music and Art with a host of curricular resources for all subjects. Our children and their progress is at the heart of what we do. Oakfield staff are highly skilled and motivated to provide the best education they can and therefore to encourage learning at every opportunity through the day.

Here at Oakfield we incorporate a variety of teaching methods to ensure that teaching is engaging and that learning is tailored to need. Philosophy 4 Children has been a timetabled part of our curriculum for several years now and we pride ourselves on the strong cross-curricular opportunities we provide.
