Learning during Coronavirus

Learning during Coronavirus

These unprecedented times have been difficult for everyone, but the staff, pupils and and families of Oakfield have risen to the challenge.

During the coronavirus pandemic and enforced school closures, along with our IT partners London CLC, we adapted our existing Pupils' Portal to enable all children to login to a bespoke portal page where they could access work that was set, watch online lessons from their teachers, submit work, and receive marked work. Plus, there were regular calls between staff and families (on both a one-to-one and class basis) to check-in on progress and answer any specific questions or concerns.

We are back with all year groups full-time as normal for the start of the Autumn Term whilst adhering to all government and PHE guidance. However, we are fully prepared for different scenarios which could include blended learning where the children receive some teaching in-school and some online via Microsoft Teams and our Pupil Portal. Similarly, if learning has to be done completely online then we, and our dedicated staff, are equipped to deliver a full teaching programme with live and recorded lessons via Microsoft Teams and the Portal. Oakfield Prep have the available resources and expertise to support the children so that, no matter the difficult circumstances, we can help them all be the best that they can be.

Just wanted to  to pass on a big 'wow' to everyone, as I was amazed and impressed by the level of planning that has gone in to thinking about the return to school.

Year 2 Parent

The methods you have all adopted to support us and guide us at home have been such a good balance.

Year 2 Parent

We are so proud that we were able to look after key worker children throughout the lockdown during term-time, and we were able to welcome 5 year groups back to Oakfield on 1st June, and the 3 remaining year groups back by 22nd June meaning that all pupils could be in school every day for the last 3 weeks of term in a safe and secure environment.

I have been so impressed and quite frankly in awe of how hard Oakfield has worked to support our daughters and to develop a plan to bring the children back to school. [They]  have returned as happy girls again having got back into school life, have a bounce in their step [thanks to] all the work and love that Oakfield as a school has shown.

Year 4 and Year 6 Parent

We want to pay tribute to all the staff, families and pupils who have showed such extraordinary resilience and positivity throughout the last few months and it has been a privilege to see how the children have taken such an active role in their learning, but also see their beaming smiles when they could return to school and see their friends and teachers again.

I really wanted to stress how good all the boys' teachers have been during this time, really amazing. Not just their class teachers...truly all so helpful, supportive and responsive...We feel very lucky that our boys have such great teachers...

Year 6 Parent

Thank you so very much for the incredible effort from all of you. I must admit I was sceptical at first about how home schooling was going to work...but you’ve made it possible through your commitment to our children & we’re eternally grateful

Year 6 Parent

Given the unprecedented circumstances, we believe Oakfield have done an outstanding job...the sacrifice of your teaching staff does not go unnoticed.

Year 6 Parent

We will be populating this section with some of the great work sent in by the children during their remote learning so keep your eyes peeled! #OakfieldAtHome
